Our Process

Initial consultation

Our first step is an initial phone call to learn more about your project and answer any questions. Next, we will visit your site and discuss your hopes for your garden suite and review specific requirements of your municipality. If you decide to go ahead with the process, we will perform a more in-depth evaluation and survey of the property including garden suite placement, location of services, considering setbacks, and any special requirements your site might have. We will talk about your design ideas, the path of daylight, and the ideal location for your suite.

Initial Design

We will work with you to choose a floor plan that best suits your goals, as well as a design that complements your yard and existing home, and one that fits with your municipality’s current regulations. You will receive a pdf of the design for review and approval.

Permitting

If you choose to build with us, we will then submit all the necessary plans (e.g., site drawings, engineering review, arborist report etc.) to your municipality for review and permitting. Our designs are developed with your municipality regulations in mind to facilitate a smooth and efficient permitting process.

Building

Once the building is approved by the municipality, we will start the construction process. This begins with site preparation and building the foundation and ends with the interior finishing touches.  

Handoff

Once the build is complete and the occupancy permit is in hand, we handoff the garden suite to you to enjoy!
